PROJECT HISTORY:
When the University of Illinois-Chicago began the first phase of what would become one of the largest campus development projects in the United States, the university expanded their student living space and created a campus town unlike any other development.

The New Frontier Companies, The Harlem-Irving Companies and Mesirow Stein Real Estate, Inc. brought together a consortium with long histories of residential, retail, commercial and institutional successes in Chicago to form the South Campus Development Team that worked with the University of Illinois-Chicago to plan, develop and execute University Village.

A GREAT DEVELOPMENT AND A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE:
University Village provides its residents with open green space rarely found in new neighborhoods. Small parks link to UIC athletic fields, utilizing greenway corridors and parkways. Complementing this public space, large landscaped courtyards surround homes of varying sizes and facades to accentuate the neighborhoods housing.

The principal gateway to the neighborhood is through Halsted Street at the historic intersection of Roosevelt Road. The area has a new retail district with vintage buildings with new facilities. The vintage structures were completely rehabilitated to preserve elements of the vibrant multi-ethnic stores and shops that were a part of the area's history.

Historic lofts are accompanied by new town-homes, six-flat condominiums and new single-family homes. Each home represents a variety of traditional Chicago style facades and rooflines. Tree-lined streets, landscaped pedestrian corridors and three neighborhood parks contribute to the community's green open space.
